I’d like to share with you a view of my S2000 that even I had never seen before.
Ever since I built the S2000, I had never once taken the top off. All of that changed recently. I’ve been on a bit of a quest to remind myself of why I love the S2000 so much. Keep in mind I started Bulletproof with this same very S2000 almost 10 years ago! As such, I’ve decided to transition from the car being a cool looking car into the car being fun to own and drive around town daily.
The transformation from cool to practical has come with several painful sacrifices. First off the Bride Gias and Stradia seats have been sold off. These photos show them for the last time in the car. Currently I have put the stock seats back in and I’m on a bit of a quest to find the perfect daily driving seats (any suggestions?). My post the other day on the limited edition Recaros can give you a hit of the direction I may likely head.
The above two shots are the last shots we’ll ever see of those sexy kevlar backed Bride seats in my car.
Next to go, my prized titanium dual exhaust. Although I must say I still find it to be the most beautiful exhaust I’ve ever imported (this particular exhaust was a custom job, a true one of a kind from the factory that produces Amuses’s exhausts). Why am I selling it? Because I’m old and I want a more quiet car. Sad but true. In the quest to make my S2000 as usable and enjoyable as possible I’ve decided to go with an Amuse Euro 7022 W which will be full titanium still but will have large stock like canisters to keep the sound much more stealthy. Reality is that if you want to drive fast you need to be more quiet. Its like they say about gangsters, the real gangsters are the ones who don’t say much. Enter the street gangster phase of this car…
Fortunately I think I still chose the perfect suspension, the car’s Top Secret Super Coilovers and height adjustable cup kit have worked wonders and saved me from a lot of otherwise ugly situations with bumper clearances. Plus for a racing setup they are surprisingly comfortable for daily driving. Not needing to touch my suspension saves me some money that I can use to install some modern comforts like a stereo upgrade (the current one doesnt even work anymore) and also some parking sensors perhaps so I dont stress out over parallel parking in LA. I may even do a couple of interior updates to make the cabin more respectable.
At last, the S2000 will grow from boy racer to a gentlemans car.
(although I’m still leaving the stickers on it for the time being, haha)
