GT-RR’s third signature build has come to a close over the weekend. This car was conceptualized to do only one thing, to make our client “R” as proud of a GT-R owner as possible. Unlike our previous two GT-R signature builds which aimed to be essentially all things to all people (show cars, magazine cover cars, track cars AND to please our clients), this car is a focused and direct ode to “R” and his desire to own his dream GT-R.
As such, I can say already (without hearing any feedback from anyone else) that this project was a success because “R” was happy! As “R” called it “perfect” and “10 out of 10″, I let out a sigh of relief that months of planning and building this car resulted in the very success I envisioned for it.
I’m proud to bring this car’s world debut to you all, with the confidence that we’ve already reached our goals for our client, yet still with the curiosity to see how you all feel about the execution of the concept.
In the prior features on the car found here you can see how the build progressed in the less than a month between start and finish:

My particular favorite things about the car are:
1. The scary strategy of mating the Esprit dry carbon intercooler duct with the Wald front bumper - Success! And look at how massive that Esprit intercooler is behind there!
2. The Esprit Dry Carbon Rear wing - My favorite wing for the GT-R right now.
3. The unrelenting quality of parts used - The Carbon Dry hood, the full titanium Amuse exhaust system, the Top Secret titanium intercooler piping, etc. I love building cars that dont cut any corners and everything is done with quality.
Thank you “R” for taking these photos. Thank you John Shafer/Akuma for continuing our great partnership between you and GT-RR and doing an excellent job tuning this project car for us. Thank you to our east coast body shop partners Auto Rebuilders in NJ as well for helping us to prove our ability to accomplish high profile complete builds outside of our hometown of Los Angeles.
With this project starting off with me doing consultation face to face overseas, the car being bought in Massachusetts, it being built in New Jersey and delivered to Boston, this has truly been an exciting example of a global build which leveraged our partner networks and showcased our abilities to bring results in increasingly flexible ways to meet our clients desires. It was a great and fulfilling challenge for our third R35 GT-R signature build.
While I love being a part of hundreds of client builds, there is something undeniably extra special about having the influence and unrelenting beginning to end vision to execute on our signature builds. I greatly look forward to whatever the future holds for perhaps a 4th signature build. If anyone wants to be a part of #4, drop me an email at ben@gt-rr.com or call me 213 745 6954
So the final question is…what do you think about how signature build #3 it turned out?
