Subtle Difference by Stanley Ku

Can you guys spot the difference between the 2 following pictures? There is a difference between the two but it is very subtle. Don’t worry if you can’t see it because I wasn’t able to notice it until someone mentioned it.

This comparison picture will definitely help those who cannot notice the difference.

Basically, the wheel center of the BBS LM, which is mounted on the outside of the barrel, has now been mounted on the inside. I came across this a couple months back when Jon, aka from330cit0m3, did it and posted about it on the forums.  I’m sure others might have done the same, but this method doesn’t seem to be very well-known to my knowledge. It is a very interesting and clever, yet simple concept. The wheels are 19×10 +25 offset. Mounting the face on the inner barrel results in an additional 0.5 inch of lip. So now, it has the same amount of lip as a 19×11 BBS LM wheel. In addition, the offset has been lowered so the fitment is more aggressive, resulting in a more flush look.

It may seem like mounting the face on the inner side will mess up the balance of the wheel but according to Jon,  the wheels are as straight and perfect as before when he took them to get balanced. There’s no wheel vibration either. As a matter of fact, the 19×11 BBS LM wheel has it’s center back-mounted straight the factory. Makes you wonder why they didn’t do so for the narrower sizes. It is a good alternative for people who are looking to get more lip on the BBS LM, but cannot fit wider wheels. Here’s a picture of Jon’s wheels on his E46 M3.
