I thought I’d continue on with the sneak peek and highlight some of the design concepts from one of the two signature GT-R’s I’m preparing for SEMA.

Above there are a couple of points I wanted to make. First off is a subtle attempt at blurring the line between FRP parts and carbon parts. For example: The Amuse high mount dry carbon wing comes with a FRP base and with a dry carbon center flap. To connect the design from the rear profile of the car, I had the bottom of the wing flap color matched to the car while keeping the top and the gurney flap still in dry carbon. On the side of the wing we added a layer of carbon fiber to frame a decal which will be placed there. You might also notice that the center flap although being painted carbon on the bottom still keeps its dry carbon side mounts as a subtle accent.

Overall design integration and continuity is highlighted in this picture. When we decided to go with a dry carbon hood and trunk, I wanted to better integrate it than just simple paint or no paint options. We came up with a one-off carbon roof and a central stripe with pinstripe detail design to flow the carbon fiber from the front of the hood to the end of the trunk. There is no black paint here, just white paint and carbon fiber. Also from this angle you can see the carbon element of the wing…again by plan, since this profile of the car will show the most carbon, we wanted the front and top profile of the wing to show the carbon rather than the back profile which shows white paint. We also used the Mines carbon antenna cover with the carbon roof rather than resorting to painting the carbon antenna cover black.
