I found this on autoblog.com and I thought it was crazy, cool and completely stupid enough to post here. Yes, I used cool and stupid in the same sentence since I think this is equal parts brilliant and retarded.
The idea is really quite fascinating, take an ordinary laptop computer put it in a different package, slap a luxury brand name on it and charge a fortune for it. The stupid part is that there are a lot of people who will buy this and lie to themselves that they are not the egomaniac brand whores that they indeed are. The few that have enough honest perspective to accept that about themselves (Kanye West for example) are the rare exception.
I find this to be totally unnecessary and utterly fascinating from both a marketing and sociological perspective.
The case that Ego (the maker) produced looks top notch and captures the Bentley spirit in both materials and of image (heavy flossing of wealth, while looking down upon all of those with sadly uninspired “normal laptops” who aren’t nearly as privileged).
Oh, I forgot to mention the price…a cool 10,000 GBP.
PS: Yes I can be a brand whore at times, and if Top Secret made one in carbon fiber and titanium I’d be in line to buy it like it was the Apple store on the release of the 3G iPhone.
