Now and then I’m going to be throwing in various off topic things just to keep you on your toes.

Just for fun, I threw together a hiphop mixtape which you can play streaming:

My interests in hiphop are wide and varied, so it was an interesting challenge to myself to throw together a mixtape with a little diversity but also something somewhat accessible to all music fans. Timing is fortunate since in my opinion three major songs for the summer just came out (new tracks by Nas, Common and Busta Rhymes). Those stellar three songs lead off the mix (Nas - Hero, Common with Pharrell - Universal Mind Control, Busta Rhymes with Nas, Big Daddy Kane, The Game and much everyone - Don’t Touch Me Remix). Then I sprinkled in a few indy hiphop songs I like, the first good new Eminem verse I’ve heard in probably 5 years (although apparently it is actually 5 years old), a classic Group Home (DJ Premier produced) track, a RA The Rugged Man biographical song about his father (with the nastiest lyrics/flow I may have ever heard), a new Portishead remix by Mickey Factz and a sprinkle of Gnarles Barkley for good measure. I tried to make 3/4s of it new tracks you all might not have heard yet.

If you don’t like hiphop, fear not. Just skip over and more JDM goodness comes tomorrow. If you like hiphop, let me know what you think. I’m having a little fun with these mixes at the moment, I might do some more if people like it.
