Enjoying The Day Off By Looking At Japanese Sakura and JDM Architecture
In Ben Schaffer's Personal Off TopicToday’s a national holiday in the US, so hopefully you’re relaxing and taking a breather from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. Thats what this blog post today is all about….Just sharing photos of my trip to Japan and sharing the joy of Japanese life, design and the overall feeling of spring in Tokyo.
By the way, despite how serene the photo is that I took above, you cant honestly say that you wouldn’t want to entirely ruin everyone’s quiet day by ripping through that street in a tuned sports car as the Sakura leaves fly.
By the way, all of these photos are 1800pix since they’re my original photos so don’t be afraid to click on the thumbs.
Next up is a bit of an extreme job in modern architecture, the Audi “iceberg” tower near Harajuku. I enjoyed this building, I’m not sure that I’d call it beautiful, but it definitely exudes technology and hard edge design much like all of the late model Audi cars they’re selling. I like the aluminum exposed joints which hold the glass panes together. The transparency and willingness to showcase the details of the building’s design is impressive to look at up close.
Now I love food, and this creme brulee trio that I got at Tokyo’s Nobu included what I consider to be the best creme brulee I’ve had in my life. Three flavors - Red Bean, Sesame and Green Tea were included in this dessert. Surprisingly it was the Sesame flavor that was the best I ever had. (darkest in color of the 3) I’ve never seen it before or after, but trust me, it is a winner.
Well, I’ll leave you for the day with this random scene I saw as I exited the JR train one day:
