Windy City - What happens when Japan’s Top Tuners get wind tunnel access?

Posted by Ben

So I was speaking with Kanayama-san of ASM the other day. I wanted to talk with him after seeing pictures on his ASM Diary of the 2008 Tsukuba Time Attack S2000 in the wind tunnel.

It turns out that the pictures he put on his blog which then circulated across the internet in a heart beat (and now ended up on my blog) will ultimately be part of a magazine feature in Japan. What was really interesting though is that Kanayama-san after reviewing the results thinks he can still improve his aerodynamics even more! I thought for sure that his racing S2000 was max’d out on aero, but Kanayama-san said in particular he feels that he can improve the car’s cooling so that it can run more laps in one session without need for a cool down. He said if this were to happen, he’d be able to put more consistent lap times down at Tsukuba and as a result he’d be able to better improve it’s fastest lap.

More pics are floating around the net of that wind tunnel day. Below is the ASM S2000 in the wind tunnel as well as the Voltex Evo and Voltex Z33.

(Blatant plug): Both Voltex kits featured and the ASM kit can bought from my business Bulletproof Automotive as we’re direct dealers for both great companies.
